Frequently asked questions

FAQ

Access, devices, refunds, updates — all the practical stuff.

Access

Getting In

How do I access the guide after I buy directly on bostonbyt.com?

After Stripe processes your payment, you'll land on a welcome page that verifies your purchase automatically. From there, click "Open the Guide" — it unlocks right in your browser. You'll also get a link to download the PDF.

To access the guide on a different device later, go to bostonbyt.com/access and enter the email address you paid with.

I bought on Etsy. How do I access the interactive guide?

The PDF downloads instantly through Etsy. For the interactive guide (124 stop guides, searchable by line, cuisine, vibe), go to bostonbyt.com/access and enter your Etsy order number. You'll find it on your Etsy order page and in your order-confirmation email.

If it doesn't open right away, no worries — our system just needs a minute or two to catch up with Etsy. Give it 2–5 minutes and you'll be all set. Still stuck after that? Message me through Etsy or email bostonbyt@gmail.com with your order number, and I'll get you in fast.

Can I use the guide on more than one device?

Yes. Go to bostonbyt.com/access and enter your Etsy order number (or the email you paid with for direct purchases). Use it on the devices you travel with — your phone, a tablet, a laptop. No account required.

I closed the welcome page before opening the guide. What do I do?

Go to bostonbyt.com/access and enter your Etsy order number (or the email you paid with for direct purchases). That unlocks the guide on whatever device you're on now.

My access isn't working. What should I do?

First, try bostonbyt.com/access with your Etsy order number (or the email you paid with for direct purchases). That usually resolves it.

If it still doesn't work: email bostonbyt@gmail.com with your order info. I respond fast and I'll get you access manually if needed.

Devices

Where It Works

What devices does the interactive guide work on?

Any device with a browser — iPhone, Android, iPad, laptop, desktop. The guide is mobile-optimized. No app to download, no account to create.

Can I use it offline?

The interactive guide requires a connection to open — it's a web guide, not a downloaded app. Once the page loads, you can leave your phone on and navigate the guide even with a spotty signal. For fully offline use, save the PDF to your phone before you head out.

What format is the PDF?

Standard PDF, US Letter size. Opens in any PDF reader on any device. Optimized for printing — if you want to print just one route, use your PDF viewer's page range field to print only those pages. The guide has a route index with page numbers for exactly this.

Refunds

Refund Policy

What's your refund policy?

Digital products are generally non-refundable once accessed. That said, if the guide isn't what you expected — wrong device, technical issue, or you just feel it wasn't worth it — email me at bostonbyt@gmail.com within 7 days of purchase and we'll figure it out. I'd rather keep a customer than keep $20.

Updates

Is This Current?

How do you handle updates when restaurants change?

The guide gets updated as things change — new hours, closed spots, new finds. Everyone who bought the guide gets the updates automatically. No re-purchasing, no separate download.

If you find something that's out of date, tell me at bostonbyt@gmail.com. I take that seriously.

Is the guide current? When was it last updated?

The guide was built in 2026 and is actively maintained. Every restaurant is linked — check the link the night before you head out. That's not me covering myself; it's how locals do it too. Restaurants are run by people, and people change things.

Does the guide get updated? Is more coming?

The guide you buy — 124 stop guides and 10 routes — stays actively maintained: when a restaurant changes, closes, or moves, the guide gets updated, and those fixes are always free to you. Separately, I'm building deep-dive guides to individual neighborhoods — focused, go-deeper guides released as their own products. They're not part of this purchase, but if you own this guide, you'll hear about them first.

About the Guide

The Product

What's the difference between the PDF and the interactive guide?

The PDF is 18 pages — 10 curated routes with full narrative, Know Before You Go callouts, and links. Great for printing, great for reference, great to keep open on your phone while you walk a specific route.

The interactive guide gives you all 124 stop guides — not just the curated routes. Searchable by line, cuisine, vibe, and neighborhood. Embedded map links, walk times, local notes. Better for exploring stops that aren't on the pre-built routes.

They're complementary. The PDF has more editorial depth on routes. The interactive guide has broader stop-by-stop coverage. Both are included.

Which MBTA lines are covered?

Red, Orange, Green, and Blue Lines. All four. That's 124 stop guides covering everything from Wonderland in Revere to Braintree in the south, Harvard and Alewife in Cambridge, and the Green Line's branches through the city.

Is the Etsy listing different from buying here?

Same guide, same content. Buying directly here is $20 flat. On Etsy, it's listed at $25. Direct purchase also means instant automated access — no waiting on an order number sync.
